A low-energy house on three levels with two large roof terraces and a rental unit. The house is detailed with oblique angles and many experimental and challenging architectural solutions.
The shape of the building responds to the typography of the site. The house is built in to the sloped terrain, divided in two and tilted in different directions. The part towards northeast houses private facilities such as bedroom and bathroom, while the southwest part houses the livingroom and kitchen. The part towards southwest is tilted towards the view of the sea.
The stairway is placed between the two main parts of the house as a 8,5 meter tall space filled with air and light.
The house provides a spacious and good feeling with lots of light, air and view.
350 mm insulation in exterior walls and 600 mm insulation in the roof, energy well and geothermal heat pump, solar collector, balanced ventilation and smart house solutions. Wooden windows with U = 0.8, solar reflective/self-cleaning coatings and automatic exterior shading.
The house is made of bricks, concrete and ventilated wooden slats, giving an ”exact” architectural idiom.
The architectural expression is a contrast to the surroundings as a natural consequence of the time.
