The space being remodelled is located above an underground car park in a densely populated working-class area of Burgos, built during the industrialisation period of the 1960s. The intervention proposes a reorganisation responding to the different needs of users, allowing different activities to take place simultaneously without interference. Colour and form have been used to create an artificial landscape which turns our attention away from the buildings surrounding the public space. The square has been given a grid pattern with contrasts of colour, which is superimposed to the order established by the existing trees. An area of green rubber dunes has a dual purpose as both a landscape element and an invitation to be used spontaneously for fun and games.A recreation area with wood, native aromatic plants and diverse furniture helps to bring together people of various age groups. The presence of vegetation is enhanced by steel structures covered with climbing plants. The functional lighting is complemented by LED lights on the floor programmed to change colour. a new night landscape is thus revealed as an invitation to play.
