This
house, near the international resort community of Punta del Este, overlooks the
Atlantic Ocean in a lovely setting on Jose
Ignacio Lagoon. In this location, the interior architectural housing
projects outwards through a large glazed wall, accentuated by a
glass pool that extends the entire length of the façade. The pool overflows freely into the lake,
diluting the boundaries between nature and construction.
In
contrast, the access facade is a large wall that provides necessary privacy from
the congestion of a high traffic route. The same facade frames ocean views
through strategically located drafts. The spatial conception of housing is based on the
fluidity and integration of space. The double-height living room is the great
protagonist integrating all spaces visually and physically into the lagoon.
Virtual
access is achieved through a bamboo barrier, which while refusing total display
space, transcends this limit and provides visitors with the large living space and
a spectacular view of the lagoon and natural environment.Finishing materials were chosen and brought especially
from Indonesia
to further integrate nature into the home. The bathrooms and
swimming pool liners are made of natural stone like the hand sink and
sculptures was carved in origin.Despite
the impressive volume of the construction, the house is in perfect harmony with
the environment. Native plants surround
the home and guide the visitor through its access.
