This eye-catching new build is a luxury family home in Newquay and was the winner of the 2016 RIBA South West Awards. This home won the regional award for its innovative design with the judges stating that “quite simply it made the jury feel happy”.
Sand Dunes is built in a staggering beach front location, occupying the entire ‘front row’ of a small community overlooking the sands near Newquay. The building is set low on a hillside but by definition occupies the foreground of ‘urban’ views over the bay. The house replaced an existing hotel building and though it was perhaps not obliged to increase visual permeability it strives to be neighbourly to the residences behind and in the wider context of the bay.
IQ’s slim frame sliding glass doors are the key design to the new build. The large elevations of minimally framed doors enhance the indoor outdoor living experience, providing large light-filled open plan living areas.
