Several years ago, the campus began working with the Latino Film Institute and Actor, Edward James Olmos to develop a Youth Cinema Project on the campus as part of the campus’ very robust SanARTS program.
The Santa Ana community has a long history of ties to the film industry of Southern California. The high school offers many pathways to their students and the latest is the School for Film and Cinematic Arts that provides real-time & real-world opportunities to the students at both Santa Ana High School and adjacent Henninger Elementary School. Since the Latino Film Institute began working with the school district, the project has expanded from 2 fourth-grade classes at Henninger Elementary to 5 classes there and at Santa Ana High School. The unique Career Tech Pathway was developed to support students in order to become “productive citizens, ethical leaders and positive contributors” to the local community as well as the country and global society.
