BCV created an evolved aesthetic for the renowned San Francisco tea purveyor Samovar at SFO, using a refined, natural palette juxtaposed with moments of crafted, sheeny brass to create a serene oasis for travelers. A relaxed, living room-inspired seating arrangement outside the entry sets the tone for the welcoming atmosphere within.
Beneath a cadence of dramatic white lacquered baffles, the entry includes two bars – one offering tea and the other liquor – clad in natural, light-hued stone. The tea bar is treated like a large furniture element, with moments of wood detailing, while the dramatic liquor bar reads as a mass of continuous stone. Brass detailing is found throughout the interior, inlaid between the pieces of stone flooring and as the liquor bar’s foot rail.
Reinforcing the “Zen” quality of the project, a white ceiling floats above the rear dining area, with recessed light boxes that illuminate the seating below. A banquette wraps around the dining room in the rear of the space, while a dazzling, handcrafted brass screen adds an alluring glow to the interior.
