The building was built in the late 19th century by Jean Psalty whose intention was to create a store in which both production and sales could take place. The building can be classified as a Levantine structure consisting of three blocks with a courtyard.
Maison Psalty Constantinople, the most prominent furniture brand of the time, was also the furniture designer and manufacturer of the Dolmabahçe Palace. Taking these facts into consideration we wanted to reveal the existing design potential of the building; therefore, we did our best to avoid any types of intervention that would detriment the original state of the structure.
Using natural and recyclable material in construction has always been an attitude we embrace and pride in as a company, and we are proud to say that this same attitude determined the choice of material used both for the kitchen cabinets and other pieces of furniture in the building. What is more, surface mounted plumbing, cast-iron radiators, accurately reproduced woodwork of the windows have all contributed to the process of maintaining the authenticity of the building.
