Designed by Gonye Design, the Salacak House is a duplex residential project located in Üsküdar, Istanbul, featuring four bedrooms and two living rooms. In the interior design process, the home’s most striking feature—the panoramic view of the Bosphorus—served as the main guiding element. The unique quality that this view brings to the spatial experience was placed at the center of the design approach. Living areas were planned according to the users’ needs and shaped with a contemporary approach that prioritizes comfort.
Upon entry, marble-patterned ceramic flooring greets visitors and continues along the corridor, extending into the kitchen. This strong surface is balanced with warm wood flooring, creating a welcoming and cozy atmosphere. Soft-textured wallpapers and fabric surfaces are blended with reflective and solid materials such as mirrors, metal, and marble, generating a spacious and airy perception of the space. In this context, large mirrored surfaces were extensively used throughout the project to bring the panoramic view into the interior. In particular, the large mirror wall in the living room allows the view to be experienced inside the space, even when seated with one's back to the windows. Similarly, the reflective glass kitchen door was chosen to enhance the presence of the view within the interior.
In the kitchen—designed to align with the user’s daily routine—contrasts between light and dark tones were used to create a high-standard, sophisticated atmosphere. This contrast-driven approach is carried into the living and lounge areas, resulting in spaces that are contemporary, bright, and functional. In the attic floor, generous storage areas are integrated, while variations in texture and plays of light enhance the perception of vertical space. Natural daylight further contributes to a brighter and more fluid interior experience.
In addition to custom-designed fixed and movable furniture, internationally recognized brands such as Minotti and Maxalto were selected for the living and lounge areas to complement the project identity. The lighting design features primarily pieces by Deniz Tunç and Bilge Lighting. Oil paintings specially commissioned for the project from artist Esra Yılmaz lend an artistic layer to the living environment. Accessories were meticulously selected and positioned by Gonye Design to ensure coherence with the overall design language.
