As seen in PaperCity, Texas Monthly, Houston Chronicle Preview and The Houston Chronicle, and we especially appreciate the shout - out from Alison Cook: “Have you visited the new beer garden at Saint Arnold Brewery yet? If not, you're missing out on one of Houston's grandest civic spaces.” NA+AA loved working with OJB Landscape Architecture on this fabulous space, and can be found there many Fridays enjoying one of Chef Ryan’s Bishops Burgers or Crawfish Rolls ourselves. Read more in Alison’s Burger Friday column in the Houston Chronicle: “LOCAL COLOR: I could dine out on the atmosphere and venue alone at the three-month-old beer garden, a marvelous, gleaming metal barn with a raised clerestory. The building, by Natalye Appel & Associates Architects, opens out into a soaring covered garden and then grassy, landscaped space defined by metal framework and metal fencing. The views of downtown are dizzying.” Saint Arnold is a Houston legend, and we loved working with Brock Wagner and all the creative brew crew. Inspired by the scale of existing industrial context, the long pre-engineered steel building provides rhythm, structure and shelter to the entire program, while a continuous cupola brings light and ventilation to the center. The traditional stepped form is native to production facilities and churches alike, celebrating the legacy of Arnold, Bishop of Metz and Patron Saint of Brewers. From Art Car display along Lyons Avenue to the beer garden at the south, the corrugated skin is punctuated and perforated to dissolve towards the iconic Houston’s skyline view used in Saint Arnold’s logo.
