WTA's design for the Safari Escape Chapel aims to capture natural features of the site, such as the sunlight, the landscapes, and the immediate and intermediate surroundings of the site.
Going towards the chapel, pathwalks with low walls acts as leading lines among the tropical landscapes, inviting and guiding the users towards the chapel; while inside the chapel, one can experience the play of light with the design and orientation of the building; Exiting the chapel, our intent is for the users the experience the coastlines of Lio towards the geological features of Cadlao island afar.
The concept of the chapel embraces nature as its primary focus, it is not only a hallmark to the public but it is also an integration of the surrounding landscape, allowing users to feel more grounded with the natural environment.
From the exterior view, the roof acts as the focal point, extruding above the planes that direct the users to the main chapel from different parts of the surrounding landscape. The rammed earth planes are strategically pierced to frame views of the surrounding landscape
