This owner’s design inspiration was the golden age of Art Deco from the 1930s and 40s when business owners invested in their community by constructing architecturally stunning banks, retail stores, train stations, and restaurants. This new, 4,761 sq. ft. building, which is the flagship location for a local restaurant chain, has a distinctive Art Deco design with an arched steel store front, custom designed bas relief facial profiles, ornate plaster pilaster capitals on exterior walls, patina copper detailing both inside and out, and custom-made metal and LED glass light fixtures. The pièce de résistance is a 35 foot high art deco tower, featuring powder-coated steel railings designed and constructed by a local artisan with sun and moon details on each face.
The new restaurant has seating for 190 customers, a 950 sq. ft. banquet room with pull-out dividing walls that can create three smaller areas, plus dining and gaming areas. The spacious interior features a 21 ft. high multiple barrel, groin vault ceiling in 900 sq. ft. of the space. Terra cotta floor tiles grace the entry, which transitions into sustainably made LEED-standard carpet tiles throughout the dining area. Custom made cabinetry is found throughout. Mahogany detailing on the interior columns and dining booths are upscale accents not typically found in a pizzeria. A building of this caliber is a first for Goleta, hopefully setting a new standard for the community.
