The presence of the Salines 150 m from the field is obviously decisive in the configuration of the project. Through its heritage and symbolic value, its quality constructive and its regular geometry, this set of buildings built in 1760 by the architect Claude-Nicolas Ledoux dominates the site.
The landscape also marks the terrain with its presence: the hillsides of the Loue valley to the south and west, the agricultural land as well as the hedges and groves separating the plots are very visible from the site.
The new Arc-et-Senans MARPA consists of of two buildings located in circumflex accent and connected by a closed circulation, thus limiting vis-à-vis screw and offering each dwelling as well as the parties municipalities a privileged relationship with the landscape.
These single-storey buildings, surrounded by green spaces, are covered by large zinc roofs with low slope. Concrete tinted in ochre/grey, main material of the facade, is worked with a matrix revealing horizontal veining, reminiscent of sedimentation of the stone implemented at the Salines and on other old buildings in the area.
The accommodations present an organization combining preservation of privacy and openness to the outside. Space of life consists of two nested open volumes : the kitchen, dining, living room, lit by a window window opening onto a private terrace which extends by the exterior path; the bedroom part, in an alcove, a space hardly visible from the outside.
Each accommodation has a covered terrace, sheltered from bad weather, which extends towards the circuits wanderings, as well as a small garden.
