Runner Camp was designed by the cooperation of PRISM DESIGN and OFFICE COASTLINE. The theme of this design is Urban Athletics. We do wish to propaganda an healthy and fashion lifestyle.
From the aspect of design, the main point is concentrated at the stair. While seeing the building hierarchy distribution of Shanghai, the number of tall buildings in Putong is far outweigh Puxi. The differences of height is represented by different floors in this design. To be more exactly, the first floor and the second floor represent Puxi and Putong, stair at the center connected the two floor thus people’s flow through the vertical direction represents athletics connecting the east and west of Shanghai. In this way the theme emerged: free athletics in the city connected the athletics of the free city.
From the aspect of material, the design wish all the material used should represent the features of both urban and fashion. For the urban part, materials like metal grid, acoustic fiber board, heat insulation material as well as concrete were used for walls and stairs. Industrial-featured material can show the rough industry feeling. For the fashion part, there are materials like orange acrylic , stainless steel wire drawing and frosted metal boards. One of the special part of the material usage is, the metal grids, which are usually be used as the coverage of drainage, as the display boards. Those boards can be moved to any where they are needed thus the arrangements are depended on the requirements of each season. In this way, function and usage combined perfectly together.
From the aspect of function, the two floor of the shop were connected by the new stair given to their new function. The first floor is used for selling shop, the second floor is much more multifunctional, including professional sport training which has LED screen interacting space and exercising space, membership shower room and supporting facilities.
Runner camp is meant to be an center camp for runners. Most runners in city like to come out at drawn or dusk, meanwhile, the first color that would jump into our mind about these two period of times would be orange. Active and energetic, considering about these features orange represented, orange is a nice choice to be Runner Camp’s brand color.
