The living room within a remote village – a reflection about “the still ordinary” and “weight of the locus”
For the sake of preserving the decent spatial scale for the remote village station with very low rider-ship, the building volume is fragmented intentionally and open to the public; adoption of local materials and colour tone enhance the fusion of the station and landscape; also provide the embeddedness with the texture of the environment. We intended to keep the ease-ness that a small station usually has instead of introducing a grand architectural event to arouse. Here, it’s not necessary to cater to the tourism, the station area belongs to villagers, belong to those who love to explore and feel.
Spatial sense in the village is nearly ceased, however, if patient, one can nose out that the place is closely linked to the earth – rest and stagnant in winter; cultivate and jogging in summer. A tale of ordinary silence is told. Thus, giving a proper bearable locus weight is vital, which shapes the gravity field that people, events and things start to draw close and settle. This is where public-ness starts.
Not merely a station, but about the locality – even small and unobtrusive.
