The Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Porto Alegre is a significant institution overseeing a complex of multiple hospital buildings, organized in a layout that forms an internal street named 'Rua da Saúde.' Prior to our intervention, there was no seamless connection between the buildings within the established structure. The client's vision was to create a unifying roof that gracefully extends across the buildings, establishing a cohesive and iconic outdoor space.
Named "Rua da Saúde," the roof extends across the courtyard of the hospital complex and consists of 1647 glass panels. The graceful, free-form structure is outlined by a triangular steel grid with a glass covering, linking three interior zones to the main entrance of the hospital complex. This roof not only offers shelter but also establishes a vibrant and verdant outdoor space, fostering a welcoming atmosphere for relaxation and social activities for the hospital's users. Its organic design seamlessly integrates with the surrounding environment
