Support and Independence
This proposal provides extra care sheltered housing where residents will feel safe in an accessible for all structure with 24 hour personal care and leisure opportunities but also to guaranty to the individual a sensation of independence in a non-institutional environment
Time scale
The transition between Cranleigh central and modern facilities could be introduced by a "time path" conceptual approach which translates the different types of architecture witnessed by Rowland House's residents (let's say from Tudor to Deconstructivist), the building closest to the schools representing the future

. use of local materials: stone, flint, tile, brick, timber
. reference to Surrey Hills: chalk, greensand, yew/box woodlands, heathlands
. Arts and craft colors: terracotta, cream, mustard yellow, olive green, deep blue, deep crimson
