Renovation and conversion of the original rhinoceros wing from the 1939 Rivièra Hall at the Rotterdam Zoo Blijdorp. The complex was originally designed by Architect Sybold van Ravesteyn and has been designated as a National Cultural Heritage Monument.
After thorough historical and color technical research, the original parts have been cleaned and restored. Besides that, new elements are added in a more contemporary style to better navigate for the zoo’s visitors and to use natural daylight.
