The
complete renovation of a home built in 1962 resulted in what is now the
Rosenbach Residence. K.H. Webb Architects was given the task of re-building the
house and improving its views of the outdoors while retaining the original
character of the building. During the modernization, the architects were very
cautious about employing rustic style elements. All the walls have a smooth
plaster finish. Natural stone and exposed stonework are used only sporadically.
Local craftsmen custom made all the furniture and built-ins. The architects
attached great importance to redesigning the entrance area. The front door
crafted out of walnut and Zinc now opens onto an impressive entrance decorated
with stylish ceiling lights and wall sconces.
Following
the renovation, the raised terrace offers improved views of the surrounding
landscape. Suffused with light, the focal point of the bathroom is
the spacious shower fully enclosed in glass.
