This renovation of an early 1900s-era Northeast Portland home focuses on reconfiguring the layout of the existing interior spaces into more functional living areas. Our intent was to create ‘extended living’ to lengthen seasonal indoor and outdoor uses of the home, update the home’s thermal performance, and provide more openness on both levels to allow daylight deeper into the house.
Porch, entry foyer, and new interior stair location were re-configured at the first level. Deconstruction and re-framing of the second-level roof to increase insulation will provide for more space and selected views.
