The research facility at Rookery Bay is operated by the Florida department of environmental protection and NOAA for the purpose of research in climate change and study of the Everglades. The facility contains research labs, educational space, and short-term housing for scientists as a series of bar and pavilion spaces.The building is designed to be as environmentally unobtrusive as possible, with the goal of being a zero energy building.
