This addition at a private business & social club integrates the fifth-floor restaurant’s existing roof terrace with a new four-season rooftop dining experience. The design features folding windows on opposite side walls to allow for cross ventilation, and a grid of nine large skylights to allow daylighting and reduce energy use. The end wall included clerestory windows to offer views of the surrounding skyline; and included an electric fireplace flanked by millwork water features to enhance a sense of well-being, as well as conceal the rooftop mechanical equipment beyond. The addition adapts the 1905 heritage designated building for change with the increased seating capacity and four-season dining experience.
Nicholas Jay Architect was the architect-of-record for this design-build project in collaboration with Toronto-based construction management firm, Rossclair Contractors.
