The client wanted to have an extra room on top of their old house in the centre of Amsterdam, to creat an office and guest room. They wanted to have an office space with two workplaces, a guestbed, a bathroom with toilet and a terrace. The connection between the old situation (the lower two floors) and the new extension is made by placingnew stairs. The stairs themselves are in the same old style, but the steps are made out of Plexwood, which gives it a more modern look. The floor in the extension is also made out of Plexwood, as well as the table tops of the office tables and the shelves in the bathroom. A glass wall next to the stairs and a facade that can be completely openend to the terracem brings in a lot of daylight.
