This residence is located within a historic district in Ishikawa Prefecture. Roofing materials and exterior wall materials are largely specified.
The surrounding area is characterized by narrow roads and densely packed buildings. To alleviate a sense of confinement, large windows and a concrete wall were installed on the roadside (north side) to create an open feel.
The concrete wall blocks noise and prying eyes, creating a private outdoor space while also contributing to natural light. Furthermore, it serves to conceal various elements like the front door, windows, intercom, and mailbox.
The power of a single concrete wall is immeasurable. For a house that can only open to the north, I am confident this was an excellent design choice.
