YEAR
2013
Creating a Restaurant Brand: D T A has 20+ years experience in restaurant design and construction, placing us in the unique position of understanding the specialized technical, planning and business needs of the restaurant owner. We help restaurant owners develop projects that maximizes business potential and transforms their restaurant space into an environment that is functional and has a unified brand. We work with owners to create a restaurant experience that is both inviting and unique.

The Rogue Kitchen & Wet Bar now occupies the former site of an electronics shop and a mattress retailer. This project is an adaptive reuse of a dated retail/ office building into a vibrant urban neighbourhood restaurant. Unlike many restaurant clients who seek unique or unusual environments to attract customers, this client did the opposite: they took a nondescript building in a great location, and made it unique. The objective was to re-contextualize by retrofitting the interior to an open, extroverted plan, and by adding to and re-cladding the building to offer street branding as architecture. The building was seismically updated, while energy-efficient systems were added. An outdoor patio extends the seating to the street corner, effectively melding the outdoors with the indoors for much of the year.
