From the outside it seems reserved and self-contained but inside surprisingly open, that is the effect of the minimalist family home of this Japanese couple. They live in a beautiful road in Marina del Rey in California. The influence of traditional Japanese architecture is very clear. The layout is based on the measurement of a tatami mat, the Japanese rice straw mat. The simplicity of the furnishings and materials together with the minimalism, are characteristic of the Japanese way of life, expressed in the architectural language.| pictures: Jessica Haye & Clark Hsiao
