This 2700 square foot residence is located in West University Place in Houston, Texas. The client requested that the architecture, site, and interior be designed in concert. The architect utilized a reductive language to highlight significant pieces of furniture and art from the client’s collection to achieve a cohesive vision.The structural system for this house is a steel and wood frame on a structural slab. Steel moment frames at the large glass areas were used to resist hurricane wind forces. The window system is a steel frame with 1” insulated glass panels. The exterior is clad in a concrete stucco. Exterior details include: lead coated copper gutters and leaders, Thassos marble wall caps and window sills, and limestone exterior walls.
