In the same spirit that the name RN74 derives from the main highway connecting the wineries of Burgundy, the restaurant’s design was inspired by the early railways that linked Burgundy to the rest of France. Despite being highly touted among eighteenth-century Parisian cognoscenti, very little of Burgundy’s wine ever left the landlocked region prior to the advent of the steam locomotive during the Industrial Revolution. RN74’s red-leather booths, its station-style wine board, and even the signal-like pendant lights all evoke the romance of nineteenth-century train travel.
