RiverEdge is a mixed use development in an emerging arts district and underutilized industrial area bordering the Trinity River Corridor and downtown Dallas. Faced with physical and cultural challenges, the project employs music, literature, and architecture to resolve the problem and elevate three forms of art beyond their singular existence. Serpentine walls, residual courtyards, monumental stairs, bridges and roof-top gardens use Scheherazade's tales of the Arabian Nights as metaphor. Conversely, numerical values are extracted from the music and used as dimensional data in the arrangement of the building's formal expression and programmatic organization. -Professional winner, Autodesk Design Awards-Urban Communities award, The Architectural Review/MIPIM Future Project Awards
