This five-tower full block development is located in the heart of Toronto’s financial district. Three WZMH towers frame a south-facing sunlit courtyard, popular with office workers who fill it at lunchtime in the summer.
The revitalization of the historically-designated mid-century building at 111 Richmond Street West, a 15-storey building designed by Peter Dickinson, as well as its adjacent courtyard, has attracted signature tenants such as Google. A revitalization to a section of Toronto’s original below-grade PATH, this project includes a glass roof that brings much-needed daylight to a below-grade food court.
At 130 Adelaide Street West a clean, spare aesthetic extends into the lobby from the building exterior: thin stainless steel “eyebrows” simplify the building exterior and the main entrance is announced by a glass canopy supported by glass beams. The spacious double-height lobby within is clad in polished Quebec granite that contrasts with the rich “carpet” of the Iranian limestone floor.
Completed in 2017, the firm’s most recent contribution is the 40-storey EY Tower at 100 Adelaide Street West. Work was under way to revitalize a heritage building at 85 Richmond Street West. The recent recladding work at 120 and 130 Adelaide Street West to update the image of these two buildings was completed in 2020.
