Two hundred acres of abandoned farmland were transformed into a sustainable public recreation facility to create the Rich Valley Golf Project. The public clubhouse and restaurant are the centerpiece of the Rich Valley Golf Course and serves the local communities of Central PA. The ground level of the structure houses golf- related programs (i.e. pro shop, management offices, locker facilities and golf cart storage) and dining-related spaces (i.e. full-service 60-seat restaurant, two outdoor dining terraces, full-service bar, and dividable 150 seat conference/banquet room, commercial kitchen and public restrooms) on the upper level. The design of the clubhouse incorporates multiple building uses under a single roof for operational efficiency and within the exact footprint of the existing but deteriorating bank barn on the site, as was mandated by the local municipality on the final development plan. The design was generated from the Pennsylvania Bank Barn typology, both in its formal language and material selection. Landscape Design Strategy:The drainage and collection of the stormwater runoff of the site to be re-used as part of the irrigation supply system guided overall site strategy for the organization of accessory structures, housing development, golfcourse layout, maintenance facilities, etc. Currently, A+M continues to work with RVG to restore their native meadow structure and re-inforce their wetland structure.
