This article presents the project and intervention in a building old part of the historic center of Porto. taking into account the
poor state of conservation of floors and roof
of wood in the building, the result of many years of absence of maintenance, it was necessary to recommend a new structural solution to adapt to the pre-existences, namely the walls of stone, brick and partition masonry, and that would allow simultaneously reinforcing it. Wood, for the various advantages which it presents, in particular in terms of compatibility,
lightness and ease of assembly, was the material chosen for these new structures. The points that conditioned the elaboration of the projects, and the options that made it possible to maintain the characteristics of this traditional building in the city of Porto.
