The bookstore is specifically for mothers. Besides accompanying mothers to read books, it also supports activities such as fragrance mixing and SPA. From staff to customers, this is a purely female space. Therefore, we used a large number of curve forms to define and connect different functional zones in a fluid manner.
Firstly, we determined four corresponding circles on the plane to completely deconstruct the original spatial structure and streamline. Divide tea, SPA, book and incense three areas. Let the space can not be seen through at a glance, but in the process of moving.
In the main part of the bookstore, we designed three round shelves, the outer ring is more public, the bearing plate is larger, used to put books; The inner ring is more private and the bearing plate is shallower, which is used to put aromatherapy essential oil. Through this mode of "reading outside and perfuming inside", the two behaviors of reading and perfuming are fully integrated.
There are fixed seats in the inner and outer circles of the three circular bookshelves, and openings at different angles are made on the plane. Through the rotation of the bookshelves, different scales of space are enclosed or defined to meet the sharing activities of different scales in the bookstore.
To make the bookshelves look light and elegant, we designed a more complex structure: minimizing the vertical support and using slim round sticks to lift the shelves so that they look like petal blossoms.
The main entrance of the bookstore is opposite the main atrium of the shopping mall. The fire protection curtain at the inner and outer junction makes it impossible to set a normal door head here. We simply use a semicircular bookshelf to give way to a wide range of boundaries. Through a huge volume retreated behind the fire curtain, it achieves a stronger declarative character than the traditional door head.
On the other hand, this blurred boundary between inside and outside makes the huge public atrium more like a part of the bookstore. To reinforce this feeling, we deflected the angle of the bookshelf at the entrance so that it was tilted towards the axis of the bookstore and perpendicular to the axis of the atrium. In the process of use, the bookstore also makes full use of the big steps in the atrium, which is used as the ladder stand and the bar as the platform to hold large-scale reading sharing activities.
