Reverent Villa
Facing different challenges in this project, made us to find a distinct solution. The first and main challenge was the unusual high slope of the site and its asymmetric shape. According to our design strategy that focuses on geographically context-based architecture and the importance of nature on architecture, we tried to have the least manipulation on the site. So the volume was positioned along high slope.
The other issue was client’s needs, looking for completely separate spaces for private and public. The need for independent spaces along with interactive spaces , a set of sub-spaces were created within the house, including private, semi-private, as well as public spaces. In this system, each space works independently while forming a part of a coherent whole.
Considering the limitations on the east and west sides of the site, the sub-spaces were situated carefully to optimize sunlight exposure. Distinct distances between the spaces and fluidity of the green spaces separating them, not only bring light and view to the spaces, but also provide privacy to each space. Forming semi open spaces, the boundaries play an important role in enhancing the spatial quality of the house.
The spatial variability created by the sub spaces and the bridges connecting them has transformed the regular residential typology to maximize the integration of indoor and outdoor spaces.
The presence of green spaces between indoor spaces increase the quality of life and forms diverse spatial experiences. The use of flexible architecture which combines fixed and variable spaces provides residents with easy access to open spaces and increases sense of belonging.
