VAMOS collaborated with the team at Macro-Sea to envision potential reuses for and repositioning of the prototypical American stripmall. The design proposes a low-budget, high impact solution that can prove bopth transformative and reproduceable.Part social experiment and part pop-up retail stragtegy, the project was conceived as an extension of the popular low-fi urban country club deployed by MacroSea in Brooklyn in 2009.The design features a complete repurposing of the parking lot for organic “strip” farming, an amphitheater, several restaurants, a playground, a beerhall, and a flexible retail marketplace that mixes emerging and established brands in an unexpected bazaar-like environment.
