RETAIL
Next to the historic
Cinquantenaire monument in Brussels, among many shops and stores, up-scale
design meets retail at a carefully curate optometric boutique.
By bringing much-needed light and sensuous material qualities, the designer
transformed an old common optical-shop into a high-end exclusive store.
Unlike before, the optical practice now offers the
perfect combination of light, space and style. The attention to detail paid to
each element in the store formed a spotless interior space.
A connection between light and product had to be constructed for a sense of
identification and orientation of the merchandise. Dark blues turned into white
and contributed a classic touch; transparent glass, replacing obtuse timber, computers
and 3-d screens enhanced the illumination; and wall-to-wall natural light wood
accented the bright space.
By removing some obtuse pieces of furniture and replacing them with a shiny
white counter and a small reception-desk, the designer managed to improve the
store's circulation. Hence the spaces created are not only visionary and
conceptual, but also meeting the practical needs of the clients, who can now
walk around the store and enjoy an elevated shopping experience.
The overall design has
determined the very minimalistic, yet elegant and noble form of the boutique,
and its visual and digital impact compels clients to interact with the display
and merchandise. By and large, the architectural arrangement serves as
background for the latest models of internationally renowned designers, and
creates a lasting impression.
