Ressource City is developed at three different scales: The Ressource City strategy (concept and strategy), Ressource City area plan (urban plan) and the Ressource Center (building). The three scales comes together to create the overall vision for Maglemølle.
The architectural concept and the surrounding infrastructure, makes Maglemølle and attractive placement with potential for a new sustainable industry.
The area surrounding Maglemølle is very diverse and comprise of housing, retail- and business areas, recreational areas, forests, parks, and farming. The central placement of Maglemølle between city and harbour, between land and water, gives a unique opportunity to activate citizens and businesses in a new and healthy landscape typography.
The first step in the transformation of Ressource City is transforming the old power plant into the Ressource Center.
The Ressource Center is a knowledge center for resources, and the location for the secretariat, entrepreneurs, conferences and exhibitions.
For a long time Maglemølle has been a closed-off industrial are, which has been cut off from the city. By developing new infrastructure links to the surroundings, the area will be opened up. The border between the city and the industry will be dissolved and Maglemølle will be considered a part of the city.
A new infrastructure link, continuing in the path of the current main road, will cut the existing buildings in half. The new buildings will be cut down to attractive sizes. This will raise the value of the buildings and bring more openness, light and air into the buildings.
In Ressource City the citizens, the users and the consumers enter into a symbiosis with the production companies. On the recycle square there will be room for both the companies and the citizens. The recycle square will be an attractive urban space, where citizens can have their broken products repaired. There will be a recycle-bazar and a built-and-trade marked.
New development areas will also be available in Maglemølle with the possibility for a mixture of housing and business. There is a possibility to establish further connections to the central areas by constructing a new bridge, that connects Ressource City to the city and a gondola that gives access to Ressource City from the train station.
