Outdoor space as extension and added value: exploring the boundaries

The expanding typology of the suburban condo shapes the expansion of the urban fabric and creates new living conditions.
We are located in Voula, in the southern suburbs of Athens, in a coherent suburban area with the exceptional privilege of proximity
to the sea, along with visual connection to the waterfront.
The architectural gesture aims to create an ensemble that will be dominated by radial cross-sections and light architectural
elements.
Concrete slabs are designed in such a way as to obtain the minimum cross-section at the edges.
The aim is to create a sense of comfort that will exceed the given surface area of each apartment: each floor is designed with a
net internal height of 3m. This height, combined with the glass-panes that extend from the floor to the ceiling and define the
corners, along with the absence of structural elements at the borders of the transition to the outdoor space, intensify the visual
continuity and dissolves the boundaries between interior and exterior.
At the same time, by analyzing the typologies, we attempt to form different residences, highlighting the specific characteristics of
each level. The ground-floor apartments acquire special character as outdoor relaxation is emphasized, while swimming pools
are added. One of the ground-floor apartments extends over two levels with an internal balcony and the creation of double-height
living spaces. The apartments of the upper levels enjoy brightness, with an orientation that fosters light at all hours and extensive
terraces that maximize the feel of the main spaces. The movable panels of the balconies, made of aluminum, offer privacy, and
make the outdoor spaces an integral part of the residence. The balconies also include planting areas, as integral elements of the
design. On the upper floor, an apartment is extended on two levels, with exclusive use of the roof.
