The concept of the house is originated by its location in a listed Area of villas from the beginning of the century. Aditionally the urban planning guideline only allowed to construct a steep roof of minimum 50 degrees gradiant and a freestanding structure.
The architecture takes on elements of the historical neighbourhood and interpret them in a modern way. Facing the street the building has a simple volume with few openings, however to the garden side the fasade is widely open to let the sunligt fall deep into the house. In the living room you enjoy a full view on the big old beech tree in the garden. The gabled roof is completely reduced to its simpliest form and got a cover with crown tiles, which complied the requirements. The gable sides find a covering with wooden lamellas to get a semi-transparent effect.
The living area with open fire place, galery and dining room is open plan and the light maple parquet, the simple plastered walls and the light colorings reinforce the wide open space and give you great fiews to the park alike garden in every room. Only the sleeping rooms and the bathrooms are lockable retreats.
