Located in Ibiporã, Paraná, the A.M. Residence is the result of a process that involves analyzing the site, interpreting the topography, and seeking a contemporary living space balanced between solidity and lightness. Built on a 300 m² lot, the residence occupies 220 m² of built area, optimizing space without sacrificing spaciousness and comfort. The laterally active lot, which could be interpreted as a limitation, was seen as an opportunity. The architectural solution emerges from this dialogue with the land, organizing the house's program into two distinct yet complementary levels.
The lower floor, carefully fitted together through a slight excavation, houses the supporting uses: garage, gourmet area, and service spaces. This robust foundation anchors the building, supporting not only the structure but also the concept of solidity and stability. The upper floor, elevated above the terrain, encompasses daily life: the living room, kitchen, bedrooms, and suite are organized on a single plane, redefining the idea of a single-story house by designing a suspended level that opens to the landscape and light.
This staggering is not merely a functional solution. It responds to the local geography and enhances environmental comfort, as all bedrooms are strategically positioned to receive the morning sun. Thus, the architecture becomes an extension of the terrain, revealing itself in harmony with the surroundings, without imposing itself, but rather in dialogue with nature.
The construction technique reinforces the concept of contrasts. The intimate block and the lower floor were constructed with traditional masonry, conveying a sense of robustness and permanence. In contrast, the social area received a lightweight metal roof, supported on only one side by two pilotis. This structural solution creates a large open space, where the living room and kitchen expand in continuity with the exterior, revealing transparency and spaciousness. The lightness of the roof contrasting with the solid base intensifies the duality that permeates the entire project.
The openings were conceived as architectural elements, not merely functional. They are voids that are carved into the concrete, allowing light to permeate the spaces and create constantly changing interior scenes. Windows and doors are not just passageways, but sculptures of light and shadow, breathing and bringing poetry to everyday life.
When selecting materials, a few were chosen, but each possesses a powerful presence: wood, with its nobility and warmth; concrete, with its strength and stability; steel, with its precision and lightness. These three elements, combined, establish a clear language, where the sobriety of raw materials transforms into timeless elegance.
The A.M. Residence, therefore, embodies the essence of contemporary architecture that emerges from the site, molds itself to the terrain, and projects itself into the future. A work that seeks not excess, but rather balance: between solidity and lightness, between technique and poetry, between the built and the void. A house that is, at once, shelter, sculpture, and landscape.
