The North Gayoso Residence is a LEED Silver Certified, 2400 square foot private residence for a client in New Orleans, Louisiana commissioned during the year of 2010. Positioned in the Northeastern region of the city, the site was narrow & presented challenges in daylighting & solar orientation for a potential Photovoltaic Array.
Through the use of Building Information Modeling, we were able to perform massing & solar studies to aid in design decisions throughout the process. With the challenges of narrow lot width & the client's requests for off-street parking & indoor-outdoor space on the ground level, the next logical decision was to semi-enclose the ground level with a wood screen system. The shell of the house is Metal SIP, a key element in regulating internal temperature & cutting long-term energy costs.
