This
project is a 120,000 square foot, 4 story building designed as part of
the Research Triangle Institute’s main campus. The facility houses
offices, computer labs and multi-purpose conference space for RTI. The
exterior skin of the building is constructed of masonry, cast stone,
curtainwall with high-performance clear glass and louvered sun shades.
Additionally, there is a 500 car, 4 level parking deck, designed to
complement the building. The project is pursuing LEED Gold
Certification. Since the building is situated in the heavily wooded
portion of the Research Triangle Park, one of the LEED points being
pursued is protecting the surrounding habitat. The building’s a 21st
Century Research and Conference Facility that is designed and
constructed according to “green” principles and is respectful of the
host environment.
