The renovation of the Oak Grove Library is entering a new stage. The aim of the project is to modernize the spaces of the building that have not yet been renovated and to create a modern, convenient, and accessible cultural and information center.
Renovation of spaces and new functions
The building will house a Children and Family Center, restoration and digitization centers, an art and music space/reading room, a sound recording studio, and a photo studio. A training classroom and conference hall are also planned. More computer workstations will be created, and a café and rooftop terrace will open.
Service expansion and quality
The project aims to expand the range of services, increase their accessibility and interactivity, and create better conditions for both individual work and community activities. Activities from the K. Donelaitis Street Library will be moved to the building.
Energy efficiency and sustainability
One of the most important goals is to increase the energy efficiency of the building from class E to class C. The building will be insulated, but the architectural expression and valuable elements of the facades will be preserved.
Modernization of engineering systems
All engineering systems will be reconstructed. A modern water mist extinguishing system, new technical rooms, and ventilation chambers are planned for the basement. New fire protection and alarm systems will be installed, as well as additional document storage systems.
Accessibility and infrastructure
The spaces will be adapted for people with disabilities, and the furniture, information technology, and other equipment necessary for providing modern cultural services will be updated.
This project is a logical step towards creating an open, innovative, and sustainable library that meets the needs of modern society.
