The existing approach to this 1960s house was dominated by cars, a car port and garage and the internal layout turned its back on the southerly garden, rigidly defining the interior space.
ArchitectureLIVE's design converted the car port into a dual aspect glazed entrance hall with a central service pod to house storage, utility, cloakroom and stairs. This in turn allowed the whole ground floor to be opened up into a series of fluid spaces, all linking to the garden.
The new 2 storey extension, kitchen and dining room on the ground floor and master bedroom suite on the first floor, is located in front of the existing building to redefine the building approach. Together with the converted entrance hall and a new car port it provides an exciting, new architectural feature that welcomes you to the property.
