Ami Austin Interior Design conceptualized a master bedroom design with an overall renovation that actually encompassed three adjoining areas, all with a goal of creating a formal, breath-taking interior that also yielded functionality and a sense of rest and peace for sleep.
The room itself was part of a master suite that had been added years prior. The design began with removing the carpet to uncover and refinish the hardwood floor. It was also time to update and replace worn windows that had been painted shut.
The homeowner had beautiful furnishings that were just right for this space, which were incorporated into the new bedroom design scheme. Once older bookcases were removed, a wonderful wall space was created for a beautiful French armoire and was balanced by matching benches and framed intaglio art. The furniture and art provided a soothing yet refined look from all angles.
Keeping a neutral palette of bedding was essential for displaying the art and an heirloom-needlepoint rug. The wall hangings behind the bed were displayed at the same elevation as the armoire; window treatments to the ceiling were used at the same height to reduce the skyscraper effect. A SONOS® surround sound system was installed for advanced audio.
Ami Austin Interior Design faced challenges while recreating this design space. The design team decided upon a solution-based plan to join three previously renovated adjourning areas into one space, while replacing non-functioning windows and creating a layout to contain all furnishings without looking clustered.
Overall, the newly designed bedroom space created a peaceful and well-appointed environment. Meeting all the client’s needs, the space now has updated flooring, the homeowner’s prized furnishings, new artwork tastefully exhibited, and functional bookcases that give rise to the homeowner’s favorite pastime.
