The Renner Street Residence project is a 2400 square feet new construction house in an urban setting. The client requested a modern house designed with contemporary materials and ‘lots of glass’. The house comprises of three levels all with decks overlooking the city. The interior space has a warm, comfortable, contemporary setting with modern furniture and clean custom built cabinetry. The design of the house is sensitive to issues of privacy with all three levels set back from the street by front decks. The corners of the decks are designed with solid railing to protect views from oncoming street traffic. The glass tower, which allows west facing sunlight deep into the house, is located at the stairway without views into the living areas. Frosted glass is used throughout the exterior and interior of the house. The plan of the house features a wider front elevation toward the southern view with a narrower plan toward the back for the guest bedroom and dining room areas. The exterior materials include Prodex, corrugated metal and insulated board siding.
