Focused
on Craig Hodgett’s 1964 project ‘Maxx’, ReMaxx examined the project’s
place in the architectural and social culture from which it sprang. The
original artifacts, limited to one vacuum-formed model and a number of
photostat drawings, were exhibited along with new ‘originals’ that
captured the mass-produced spirit developed in Hodgett’s process and
representation of Maxx. The exhibition and display furniture were
designed to allow a sense of intimacy with the objects while also
conveying the archival nature of the ‘originals’ in the vitrine by
extending that surface into the exhibition space.
