Regis at Lutwyche is home to 135 residents with 15 rooms dedicated to residents with dementia. Almost two thirds of the building is dedicated to communal and public areas, promoting resident interaction and family visitation. The ground and roof top levels are fully communal with facilities for residents and families. The residential levels are conceived as more private gathering spaces with higher levels of care.
The design aims to maximise natural light deep into the building. Bedrooms and common areas are positioned to take advantage of the distant views across Kedron Brook and the north-eastern suburbs.
The first of the four large screens sit above the porte-cochere. These folded screens contribute to a sense of enclosure when sitting on the communal decks, and meter the wind and sun. When viewed from the surrounding area they provide articulation and a detailed design feature at the civic scale.
