This combined technological and networking center is specifically established around robotics and hosts a showroom for diffusion & exhibition, a conference center for networking, and a workshop and offices for experimentation and development.
The project site holds a strong agricultural identity typical of the rural local landscape. Thereby the plot has been cut into multiple transversal stripes, building a sequence alternating between hardscape and softscape. Three of these striations delimitated by wooden palisades host the building and the parking lot. Thus the high-tech program shows an abstract image hybrid of a shed and a barn, integrated into the agricultural landscape, in a kind of a stealth architecture.
The construction follows the principles of a soft bioclimatic architecture: A compact built shape for low energy loss; maximization of light intake through sheds orientated north for low electricity consumption; maximization of passive intake during winter via solar energy through a large shed orientated to the south; and the high inertia walls and floors that enable a thermal phase shift for heating during winter and cooling during summer.
The building and its architecture have been thought of as a kind of abstract factory to be adaptable in use and in time. The workshop enables multiple configurations and uses by a matrix fluids distribution (water, high and low voltage wiring, compressed air) and movable partitions. The construction and its future extensions have been designed as a whole.
The lusters and reception desk in the hall have been designed specifically and integrate an acoustic treatment for the room.
