Regional Center for Autism (RCA) is established with the overall objectives to offer a package of health, educational and social activities/services for autistic children and their families. In particular the center offer treatment, rehabilitation, education, support services, Promote a healthy physical being, psycho-emotional and social development of children with special needs, and increase and update the knowledge and skills of professionals in the country (physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, psychotherapists) in regard to assisting children with developmental problems.
The building, Regional Center for Autism, is a rectangular volume containing three layers/floors accident by the entrance and the elliptical indoor pool volume. Each layer/floor hold specific uses: main floor is designated for clinical spaces, semi –underground floor host spaces for conferences, workshops and other events, meanwhile in the upper floor is the library and offices. One of the essential elements in the design of RCA has been the independent simultaneously use of spaces from deferent users. The retaining walls are rotated to create spaces that act as open rooms. It offers great flexibility and can be used for children’s therapy, art projects, workshops and events. The garden is fit for multiple uses - acting as an activated and spectacular space for children and their parents, with playground, children’s therapy, a quiet green zone and parking.
SOCIAL ACTION and RESPONSIBILITY - The construction of Regional Center for Autism, Albania was made possible by the generosity of different international donors (Kuwait Awqaf Public Foundation, Wolf Theiss, Çalik Holding, etc.), special advise of Autism Speaks and from high Social Responsibility of Albanian Companies (TID, Agna Group, Albsig, etc.). Part of this social action has been and MB Studio that offered Architectural Design and Construction Management services free of charge, as donation.
