ON A QUIET STREET IN THE CENTER OF THE TOWN, LIES AN OLD HOUSE MADE IN AN ECLECTIC STYLE, MORE THAN A HUNDRED YEARS AGO. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS PERMANENTLY INHABITED, IT SUFFERED A LOT OF INTERIOR DAMAGES DUE TO THE BAD SHAPE OF THE ROOF AND OF THE OLD WINDOWS.
INTERVENTIONS AIMED AT REHABILITATION OF BOTH INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR OF THE BUILDING IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A BETTER COMFORT IN USE. THE DESIGN PROCESS INSISTED ON THE RECOVERY OF VALUABLE ELEMENTS OF EXISTING ARCHITECTURE AND THE USE OF UNIQUE FURNISHINGS. SPECIAL ATTENTION WAS PAID TO USE NATURAL LIGHT AS A VIBRATING TOUCH FOR THE ELEGANT INTERIORS. THE INTERVENTION FOCUSED ON THE REHABILITATION OF THE WINTER- GARDEN AND THE SKYLIGHT OF THE LIVING ROOM, RECOVERING/RESTORING ORIGINAL WOOD CARPENTRY AND ACHIEVING WIDER OPENINGS FOR EXISTING ROOF WINDOWS AND DORMERS.
THE THERMAL REHABILITATION OF THE ROOF WAS MADE USING ONLY NATURAL/RECYCLED INSULATION MATERIALS (WOOD FIBER INSULATION BOARDS, LOOSE CELLULOSE, ADAPTATIVE LATEX MEMBRANE) IN ORDER TO HAVE A LOW IMPACT ON THE STRONG PRESENCE OF THE ORIGINAL ELEMENTS OF THE ROOF, GIVING SIMULTANEOUSLY A HIGH THERMAL AND SOUND PROTECTION. THE USE OF TITANIUM-ZINC ROOF COATING INSTEAD OF THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF TILES AND METAL SHEETS ADDED DURING THE YEARS PROVIDES FAST AND PROVIDED A GENERAL ELEGANT APPEARANCE. A RECURRENT THEME FOR THE BASIC CONCEPTUAL APPROACH WAS RECYCLING/REUSING AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE THE EXISTING ELEMENTS IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A GOOD TYPE OF REHABILITATION. THE THEME OF ARCHITECTURE AS A RESOURCE FAVORED A CONSTANT GROWTH OF THE PROJECT, INFLUENCED BY THE PRINCIPLES OF SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE.
